Editor's choice: Today's 5 best mattress sales
Learn how we pick our best mattress sales ▼
Here at Tom's Guide, we test mattresses for hundreds of hours, using a mixture of qualitative and quantitative data to build an unbiased view of each model. We also track mattress sales throughout the year, so we know which deals are good and which ones aren't worth your time.
The picks in our Editor's Choice category represent the deals we know are good value on mattresses we recommend.
1. The DreamCloud Hybrid Mattress: twin $319 at DreamCloud
Save up to 60% - The latest DreamCloud mattress sales brings a queen DreamCloud Hybrid back to the lowest price we've seen in months, with a queen only $599. This isn't quite as good as the flash sale we saw earlier in April (which included a free bedding bundle) but it's still an exceptional saving on the best mattress in a box we've tested. The last flash sale only lasted a couple of days, so shop now if you want to enjoy the superb support and hotel-quality feel we highlighted in our DreamCloud Hybrid mattress review. The cherry on top? The benefits are top notch, with a 365-night trial and lifetime warranty.
2. Saatva Classic Mattress: twin was $1,399 now $1,099 at Saatva
As well as taking the top spot in our best hybrid mattress guide, our Saatva Classic Mattress review team gave the mattress full marks across the testing criteria. This luxury mattress combines eco-friendly foams with a plush Euro pillow-top and coil base for maximum support and relief. It's available in three firmness levels (soft, medium-firm, firm) and two heights (11.5 inches or 14.5 inches), and this customization gives it a wide appeal — it suits almost every sleep style. The current Saatva mattress sale has been bouncing between $300 off and 15% off the Classic. They're both good deals, reducing a queen from $2,099 to around $1,799. The benefits are also excellent, with a 365-night trial, lifetime warranty and free white glove delivery. But if you aren't in a rush to buy, we're expecting something bigger for Memorial Day.
3. Nectar Classic Memory Foam mattress: twin $349 at Nectar
Our favorite value mattress is now 67% off in Nectar's latest sale. In our Nectar Classic Memory Foam mattress review, we called the Editor's Choice mattress tremendous value for the money. We found it very comfortable (thanks to its three layers of memory foam) with excellent pressure relief around your shoulders, hips, and back. Bonus points for offering an impressive 365-night trial and a forever warranty. Currently, you can get the twin Classic Memory Foam for $349 (was $1,081) or the queen for $649 (was $1,664). This Nectar mattress sale is evergreen, but it's still one of our favorite deals.
4. Casper Snow Hybrid Mattress: twin XL was $1,895 now $1,420 at Casper
The Casper Snow Hybrid combines three methods to enhance temperature regulation and compete with the best cooling mattresses. First, a Snow Cover provides instant freshness and a cool-touch finish. Second, phase change material pulls heat from the body as you sleep. And third graphite aluminum Heat Delete Bands are used across the bed to remove warmth. Right now there's 25% off the Snow Hybrid at Casper, reducing a queen from $2,495 to $1,870. This is one of the best deals we've seen from Casper and it comes with a 10-year warranty and 100-night trial.
5. Tempur-Pedic Tempur-Cloud Mattress: twin was $1,699 now $1,189.30 at Tempur-Pedic
Using signature Tempur Material foams to create a soothing, slow-moving 'hug', the Tempur-Cloud eases around the joints to relieve aches and pains for side sleepers. In our Tempur-Pedic Tempur-Cloud Mattress review we found that while it could trap heat (consider the Casper Snow Hybrid above for hot sleepers) the motion isolation is exceptional. Tempur-Pedic is one of the best luxury mattress brands around, but using code CLOUD30 will save you 30% on this entry-level mattress. A queen is now $1,399.30 (was $1,999) and comes with a 90-night trial and 10-year warranty.
Memory Foam mattress deals
Learn more about memory foam mattresses ▼
Memory foam mattresses offer dense cushioning that can reduce the pressure that builds up at the joints. These mattresses are perfect for those who suffer with aches and pains, offering a contouring, body-hugging feel that can ease discomfort.
The feel of memory foam isn't for everyone, but it has some clear benefits. They are great for motion isolation, making them perfect for couples who wake each other up with movement at night. Contrary to popular belief, memory foam beds aren't all soft. In fact, some of the firmest mattresses are comprised of foam, including the ultra-firm Plank Firm mattress.

1. Siena Mattress: was $499 now $179 at Siena
The Siena Mattress is an affordable memory foam mattress from the company behind Nectar and DreamCloud. Its firmer feel best suits back and stomach sleepers, while the three layers of foam keep the build simply but effective. In our Siena Memory Foam mattress review, we said it offers excellent temperature regulation, superb edge support, and low motion transfer for a very low price. As part of its mattress sale, Siena is offering the twin for $199 (was $499), whereas the queen is $399 (was $699). You also get a 180-night trial with free shipping and returns. Those are good prices (and good extras) for a mattress of this quality.
2. Nectar Premier Mattress: twin was $1,480 now $549 at Nectar
The Nectar Premier uses gel memory foam and phase-change material to keep you cool as you sleep. In terms of layers, it features a 3-inch gel-infused memory foam layer, 3-inch soft transition foam, and a 7-inch firm base foam. After discount, the twin costs $549 (was $1,480) and a queen costs $949 (was $2,165).
3. Puffy Mattress: twin was $1,849 now $499 at Puffy
The five-layer, memory foam Puffy Mattress is made to support back, stomach, side and combination sleepers. It has a cooling cover to wick away heat, which we found effective (albeit slippery) in our Puffy Cloud mattress review. After discount, the twin is on sale for $499 (was $1,849), and the queen costs $949 (was $2,299).
4. Plank Firm: was $849 now $561.75 at Plank Mattress
If you're looking for a good sale on an extra firm mattress, look no further than the Plank Firm. This is our best firm mattress of the year and is an excellent choice for stomach and back sleepers who need maximum spinal support during sleep to prevent any painful dipping of their back. Right now you can save 25% on any size Plank Firm, with a twin reduced to $561.75 (was $749) and a queen on sale for $999 (was $1,332). We wouldn't advise this mattress for side sleepers as it won't provide enough cushioning, but if you want a very firm back and stomach sleeping bed at a more affordable price, you won't go wrong here.
5. Nolah Original 10" Mattress: was $999 now $699.25 at Nolah with code TOMS50OFF
The Nolah Original 10" is the company's most affordable option, although it's not exactly a budget buy (the Nectar Classic is a better choice for tight budgets). It offers long-term durability, pressure relief, and optimal cooling. In our Nolah Original 10 mattress hands on, we said it's great if you sleep on your side and like the hugging sensation of memory foam mattresses. A twin is $699 (was $999) and a queen is $1,037 (was $1,449) in the evergreen sale. Make sure to add the discount code TOMS50OFF to get this price.

Hybrid mattress deals
Learn more about hybrid mattresses ▼
Hybrid beds combine body-hugging memory foam surfaces with supportive innerspring layers to bring you the best of both worlds. These beds are likely to appeal to a wider range of sleepers and are often customizable, with pillow tops and other interchangeable materials so you can find your perfect feel.
If you're unsure of which type of mattress to go for, it's a safe bet to go straight down the middle and opt for a medium-feel hybrid. Well-balanced hybrids like the Nectar Classic will serve most sleepers just fine, whereas the Brooklyn Bedding Aurora Luxe adds cooling features to keep you comfortable. If you're looking for the best hybrid mattress, that would be the Saatva Classic mattress.
1. Emma Hybrid Comfort: was $1,099 now $439 at Emma
The Emma Hybrid Comfort is the latest mattress by Emma Sleep and it's also one of the cheapest hybrid beds from a leading mattress manufacturer. The Emma Hybrid Comfort is a 13-inch mattress featuring cooling technology to dissipate excess body heat during sleep, so you enjoy deeper sleep for longer and don't overheat in bed. It's ideal for back and stomach sleepers as it will keep you on top of the mattress to prevent any dipping in your spine. After discount, the twin costs $495 (was $1,099), whereas the queen costs $615 (was $1,539).
User score: ★★★★★
2. Nectar Classic Hybrid Mattress: was $1,148 now $499 at Nectar
Although the brand is known for its excellent memory foam mattresses, Nectar's hybrid mattresses are equally as impressive as the all-foam offerings. This six-layer mattress has a 12-inch profile and comes with free shipping, returns, and a 365-night trial. After discount, the twin is $499 (was $1,148), whereas the queen is $799 (was $1,664).
3. Awara Natural Luxury Hybrid: twin $549 at Awara
The Awara is regularly on sale and this month there's up to 50%. In our Awara Natural Hybrid Mattress review, we called the Editor's Choice bed an affordable organic mattress with a luxurious feel – the Natural Luxury is a slightly different design, but we expect it to provide the same pressure relief and spinal alignment. After discount, you can get twin for $549 (was $896) or the queen for $849 (was $1,363).
4. Brooklyn Bedding Aurora Luxe: was $999 now $749.25 at Brooklyn Bedding
The Aurora Luxe holds a spot in our list of the best hybrid mattress you can buy. It's an especially great choice if you have the tendency to sleep hot and if you're picky about the firmness level of your mattress (it comes with three firmness options ranging from soft to firm). In our Brooklyn Bedding Aurora Luxe mattress review, we found upgrading to the Cloud pillow-top enhances both cooling and comfort. Without the pillow-top, a queen is $1,398.75 (was $1,865) in the evergreen sale.
5. The WinkBed Mattress: was $1,149 now $849 at WinkBeds
The original WinkBed mattress has an excellent $300 discount on all sizes right now, which takes the cost of a queen to just $1,499. It's a good option for anyone suffering from back pain, thanks to its enhanced support. You can also choose your preferred level of firmness. In our WinkBed mattress review we said it's a well-made, competitively priced luxury hybrid offering a nice balance of sturdy, zoned support and comfortable cushioning. After discount, the twin costs $849 (was $1,149), whereas the queen costs $1,499 (was $1,799).
Latex mattress deals
Learn more about latex mattresses ▼
Latex mattresses are becoming increasingly popular, due to their eco-friendly credentials. Latex foams have bouncy, buoyant pressure relief and natural breathability, and although the best organic mattresses can be premium picks, they're also known for their durability.
1. Avocado Eco Organic Mattress: twin was $777 now $699 at Avocado
Avocado is a leader in the green-mattress charge and the Eco Organic is one of the best value latex mattresses we've seen. The firmer feel will best suit stomach and back sleepers, and despite the lower price, every part of the mattress has received OEKO-TEX 100 Standard certification. While there have been better Avocado mattress sales, the deals are rarely any bigger on the brand's most affordable bed. A queen is now $1,169 (was $1,299) and comes with a 100-night trial and 10-year warranty.
User score: ★★★★½ (700+ reviews)
2. Birch Natural Mattress: twin was $1,373.75 now $1,099 at Birch
The medium-firm feel of the Birch suits most sleep styles, as we discovered in our Birch Natural Mattress review. This is a top pick if you like to change position in the night, especially as the bouncy feel is responsive and easy to move around. We did notice some motion transfer, however, which might cause disrupted nights if you share with a restless partner. An evergreen 20% off sale reduces a queen Birch to $1,499 (was $1,873.75) but keep an eye out for the 25% off sale for the best saving. Whenever you buy, you'll get a 100-night trial and lifetime warranty.
3. Naturepedic Concerto Pillow Top Mattress: twin was $1,699 now $1,325.22 at Naturepedic
Latex mattresses have a reputation for firmness but that isn't the case here — the Concerto is a plush mattress with exceptional pressure relief for side sleeping. In our Naturepedic Concerto Mattress review we praised the indulgent comfort and even though it 'hugs' the body, you won't find yourself warming up. Naturepedic sales are rare, so take advantage of 22% off for Earth month using code EARTH22. A queen is now $2,183.22 (was $2,799) with a 100-night trial and 25-year warranty.

Mattress sales FAQs
Mattress deals online — Where to find them
Holidays are — not surprisingly — the best time of year for mattress sales. November, in particular, is a great month for mattress deals with many manufacturers offering their lowest prices of the year. However, if you need a cheap mattress deal now — there are many mattress deals available that you can take advantage of. The best places to look are generally the mattress manufacturers. Nectar, Saatva, Purple, and Amerisleep, for instance, usually have various mattress deals you can take advantage of on any given day of the week.
Finding the best mattress coupons
Like many retailers, mattress manufacturers occasionally offer discounts via coupon codes. Some brands are upfront about their promo codes and list them on their respective websites. Others have the tendency to hide them. Make sure to check out our guide to the best coupons via our guides: Nectar promo codes, Tempur Pedic promo codes, Purple promo codes, Casper promo codes, DreamCloud coupons, and Awara promo codes.
Mattress deals — tips to remember
- Shop the peak sales: Labor Day, Black Friday/Cyber Monday, Memorial Day, and July 4th are generally the best time of the year for mattress deals. Black Friday used to stand out as the top mattress sale day by a long shot but lately Memorial Day has been catching up (and even Presidents' Day and Labor Day sales have been promising.)
- Look out for evergreen sales: Some of our favorite sleep brands — including Nectar and DreamCloud — run sales throughout the year and you rarely risk missing a better price by shopping these deals. In this guide, we've highlighted which sales are evergreen and which are new, wherever possible.
- Know your return policy: Buying a new mattress can be tricky, as everyone's sleep needs are unique. Most online mattress brands offer a sleep trial — time to test the bed at home — with returns for free (or a minimal fee) within this period. Some brands, particularly budget beds and third-party retailers, only offer returns if the mattress is in the original condition. In other words, still rolled up in its box.
- Don't skip the sleep trial: Okay, this is practically the same point as above but the sleep trial is our number one piece of advice when buying a mattress online. A standard trial lasts 100 nights but some brands offer up to a full year — well over the estimated 30 nights it takes to adjust to a bed. With a sleep trial, you can test the bed where it mattress most: in your own bedroom.
- Save with Medicare: If you're in the US and buying a mattress to help with a medical condition such as chronic back pain, you may be eligible for Medicare support. For all the facts you need to know, see our article on what types of mattresses are covered by Medicare.
